Closed A grand jury says there should not be a new investigation into the murder-suicide of ex-NFL player Steve McNair and his girlfriend. Authorities say the 36-year-old quarterback who spent most of his career with the Tennessee Titans was shot to death July 4, 2009, by his mistress, 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, who then killed herself.

Signed Former Dallas Cowboys defensive back Ken Hamlin says he’s reached agreement with the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year contract for the 2010 season. Cut by the Cowboys in April, Hamlin worked out with the Ravens during the team’s final passing camp last week. He made the Pro Bowl in 2007 with the Seattle Seahawks.

•The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Francis Bouillon to a two-year contract worth $2.7 million.

Retired San Jose Sharks defenseman Rob Blake has called it a career after 20 years in the league. Blake, 40, had a decorated career, helping the Los Angeles Kings advance to the Stanley Cup final in 1993, winning the Norris Trophy for the Kings as the league’s top defender in 1998, hoisting the Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2001, and earning an Olympic gold medal for Canada in 2002.

Sidelined The Colorado Rockies will be without offensive catalyst and slick-fielding shortstop Troy Tulowitzki for at least six weeks after he broke his left wrist. Tulowitzki was hurt when he was hit by a pitch from Twins reliever Alex Burnett in the eighth inning of a win Thursday in Minnesota.

Preparing Personal manager Gary Moore said that former Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson is planning a return to the NBA next season. Iverson returned to the Sixers in December and took a leave of absence in March because of family issues.

Hired University of Great Falls President Eugene McAllister has announced the hiring of Andrew Jugan as the university’s athletic director. Jugan replaces Jim Hall, who left last September for a similar post at Spring Hill College.

Pleaded The Jersey Journal is reporting that former U.S. figure skating champion Nicole Bobek has pleaded guilty to her role in a northern New Jersey drug distribution ring. She was among 28 people charged last July for distributing methanphetamine.
