Sending some redneck roses?

Gretchen Wilson (Associated Press / The Spokesman-Review)

Gretchen Wilson and her mother haven’t spoken in a few years, but she’s hoping to change that on Sunday.

“As far as I know things are going a lot better with her life than they were previously,” said Wilson. “And so I’m thinking that this Mother’s Day, we might reconnect.”

The “Redneck Woman” singer was born to a teenage mother, and has described her upbringing as impoverished and difficult. She has also depicted her mother as a battered wife who turned to alcohol and drugs.

Wilson left home as a teen and also dropped out of high school at 14. But she went back to school after she became a country star and got her G.E.D. last year.

The 35-year-old singer is a mom herself now, and there is no doubt in her mind that her 8-year-old daughter Grace will finish school:

“Mothers and daughters have that rivalry thing. And now that I have my diploma, I have something that she doesn’t have. So I have a feeling just knowing her and knowing she’s like me, she’ll have to have one, too.”

Wilson’s fourth album, “I Got Your Country Right Here,” is set to be released this summer.

Huck? It was something she ate

Country star Brad Paisley says that his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, dreamed they had a boy and they named him Jasper.

So when their second son was born April 17, they named him Jasper Warren Paisley. The middle name comes from Paisley’s grandfather, who gave Brad his first guitar.

Jasper joins older brother William Huckleberry, who was born in February 2007.

Pink goes well with ‘Grey’s’

“Grey’s Anatomy” actress Chyler Leigh has welcomed her third child, a daughter named Anniston Kae.

The 27-year-old actress and her husband, actor Nathan West, have a 5-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.

Leigh plays Meredith Grey’s half-sister on the ABC medical drama.

Is that a B.A., or just B.S.?

Jimmy Fallon is finally getting his bachelor’s degree in communications 15 years after leaving college to pursue his comedy career.

The “Late Night” host will pick up his diploma and speak at the College of St. Rose commencement today at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

The college says Fallon earned his degree after satisfying requirements for the remaining credits by presenting a portfolio of his work.
