Responsibility fading away

The Spokesman-Review

Whatever happened to Americans taking responsibility for their actions? This nation has been known for the ability to pull ourselves up from the bootstraps and learn from our mistakes to become better.

The change that was promised is turning into a major power play. The bailout of the big banks that were in trouble now carries regulations on the pay and bonuses for their executives; there is talk of wanting to regulate the color of car you drive to help save the environment; if struggling newspapers receive a bailout will they have to forgo their editorial pages and endorsements of political candidates? Is the next step in regulation to dictate what temperature setting is acceptable in our homes and businesses as is now being rumored? Gun control will be next, with the thought of an armed nation of free citizens most likely very distressing to certain politicians.

I for one am disgusted with the lack of common sense shown by those with political power. Have you seen enough? Maybe it’s time to stand up and cry uncle and make our voices heard by writing letters, having “tea parties” and voting these people out of office the first chance we have.
