New median to be installed on Argonne at Buckeye

The Spokesman-Review

After a new median is installed on Argonne Road, drivers in Millwood will have one fewer place to shoot across Argonne Road from a side street that does not have a stoplight.

As part of an agreement between the Millwood Town Council and developers who plan to build a Walgreens near the northeast corner of Argonne and Trent, a new section of the median on Argonne will be installed in front of Buckeye. Its shape will still allow traffic from Argonne coming from either direction to turn left onto the street. Traffic running both east and west on Buckeye, though, will no longer be able to make a left turn onto Argonne.

The Town Council recently approved a variance loosening some of its building regulations so the 13,850-square-foot store could be built on the site. Traffic control devices, including the new median section, were required to be installed by the developer, S.E. Grainger Development Group of Bellevue.

Permits to build the store have been filed, said Planning Director Heather Cannon, but she was unsure when work on the median would start.
