Broncos continue to win emphatically

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Jared Zabransky threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, and Marty Tadman returned an interception 98 yards for a score as No. 20 Boise State overwhelmed Louisiana Tech 55-14 at Boise on Saturday night.

The Broncos (6-0, 2-0 WAC) fell behind 7-0 early after fumbling away the opening kickoff, but roared back with 31 straight points before halftime.

Zabransky completed 11 of 18 passes for 184 yards and ran nine times for 54 yards. Ian Johnson rushed 14 times for 92 yards and a touchdown.

It was Louisiana Tech’s third road game against a ranked team. It opened the season with a 49-10 loss to No. 22 Nebraska, and a week ago lost 51-0 to No. 15 Clemson.

Utah State 13, Fresno State 12: At Logan, Utah, quarterback Riley Nelson threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Robinson with 55 seconds remaining to lead the Aggies past the Bulldogs.

The winning touchdown came after Clint Stitser’s 29-yard field goal gave Fresno State (1-4, 1-1) a 12-7 lead with 3:56 to play.

Nelson marched the Aggies (1-5 1-1) to Fresno State’s 18 with 1:28 left.

He then hit Robinson in the end zone, but the touchdown was called back on a penalty.

But Nelson got another chance, hitting Robinson on a third-and-22 play to win the game.
