Spokane Symphony Associates book fair – Purchase books, music or other merchandise today at the Barnes & Noble stores at the NorthTown Mall and Valley Mall from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mention the book fair when paying, and a percentage of the sale will be donated to Spokane Symphony music education programs. Oktoberfest – Hosted by the German-American Society of Spokane, 6 p.m. today at the Deutsches Haus, 25 W. Third. Dance to music by the Norm Seeberger Band, listen to the Concordia Choir and have traditional Oktoberfest food. Age 21 and over only. Admission is $10, which does not include food. Fire Safety in the Home – Free clinics at 10 a.m. today at Home Depot stores, and a special presentation for children from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. Store locations are: 5617 E. Sprague Ave,, 9116 N. Newport Highway and 21701 E. Country Vista Drive. (509) 534-8588.
