Tree lighting tonight

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley residents have two opportunities to get involved in their community tonight, and they are within walking distance of each other.

At 5:30 p.m. the fourth annual Festival of Lights will take place in the parking lot of the University City Mall at University and Sprague. The lighting of the Spokane Valley Christmas tree will feature a performance by the Sunrise Elementary Solar Energy Choir and an appearance by Santa Claus.

Just to the east, the city of Spokane Valley will hold its third workshop on a plan to redevelop Sprague Avenue at Decades Meeting Place and Banquet Room behind Percy’s Cafe Americana.

The hands-on workshop will focus on transportation and street design. It takes place from 6 to 9 p.m.
