The Slice: The Slice: Wet lawn messed up big chance

Not to make light of power outages and what have you.

But Monday morning’s high winds would have been perfect for those of us who wait patiently for our unraked leaves to be blown away.

Sadly though, most fallen foliage exists as sodden clumps right now. And it would have taken a hurricane to budge them.

“Here’s why newspapers are in trouble: Just about every Monday morning, an elderly woman in Colville phones and tells me a dirty joke.

They usually aren’t exceptionally off-color. But I couldn’t print them. And, in a way, that’s too bad.

“Has this ever happened to you: Twice now, when traveling in other parts of the country, Glenn Russell has encountered people who thought his GU Bulldogs apparel was connected to Georgia.

Presumably, the confusion stems from the fact that the University of Georgia’s sports mascot is a bulldog also. And the color schemes are slightly similar. But no one in the know would refer to UGA as GU.

Why does Cindy Lou Who have antennae coming out of her head?

I’m no expert on Who physiology. (Perhaps a reader who is can weigh in.) But my guess is that it is a result of a diet too rich in roast beast.

“Today’s Slice question: What is WSU’s record in Apple Cup games you have attended?
