Radio, TV performer playing in concert at SCC

Musician Peter Ostroushko of “A Prairie Home Companion” fame will give a concert Sunday night at Spokane Community College.

Ostroushko, an accomplished fiddler, mandolin player and composer, is best known for the more than 25 years he has spent with Garrison Keillor’s popular public radio show.

His television credits range from “Austin City Limits” to “Late Night With David Letterman” to “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

Ostroushko also has played classical works with the Minnesota Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. The latter has performed pieces of his along with such other orchestras as the Minnesota Sinfonia, Des Moines Symphony and Kremlin Chamber Orchestra.

He will be accompanied on Sunday by Arkadiy Yushin, a Ukrainian guitarist.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in SCC’s Lair Auditorium, 1810 N. Greene St. Tickets are $18 ($14 for Spokane Folklore Society members), available at Auntie’s Bookstore, 402 W. Main Ave., and The Shop, 924 S. Perry St.
