Tri-Parish Vacation Bible School starts July 10

Three Valley churches are combining forces to offer a Vacation Bible School session July 10-14. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church will offer the session for children in preschool through the sixth grade.

Those in preschool through the second grade will gather from 9 to 11:50 a.m. daily at Good Shepherd, 810 S. Sullivan Road. Children in grades three through 6 will meet daily from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Mary’s, 304 S. Adams Road. There will be a dessert potluck during the July 13 session.

The theme of this year’s Tri-Parish VBS is Treasure Cove. Activities will include art, music, snacks, games, a puppet show and more. The cost is $15 for the first child and $10 for the second. Call Good Shepherd at 926-8611 or St. Mary’s at 928-3210 to register or for more information.

Fourth Celebration

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will celebrate the Fourth of July a little early with a “Red, White and Blue” picnic Wednesday at 5 p.m. The evening will begin with patriotic and gospel music. The barbecue menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, coleslaw and more.

All are welcome. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of the meal. The church is at 115 N. Raymond Road. Call the church office at 924-7262 for more information.

It’s all about grace

Valley Church of Christ is hosting guest Ron Carlson speaking on several different aspects of grace. A discussion on “Saved by Grace” will begin at 5:30 p.m. today, followed by “Motivated by Grace” at 7. Carlson will also be speaking on “Servants by Grace” at 9:45 a.m. Sunday and “Instructed by Grace” at 10:45 Sunday.

Summer schedule

Zion Lutheran Church is changing to its summer worship schedule beginning this week. There will now be one combined worship service offered at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. The church is at 8304 E. Buckeye Ave.
