Powell hit in ninth gives RiverHawks win over Kelowna

Chase Powell’s two-out single in the bottom of the ninth inning drove in Carl Uhl with the winning run as the Spokane RiverHawks defeated the Kelowna Falcons 2-1 in a West Coast Collegiate Baseball League game Tuesday night at Avista Stadium.

Spokane took 1-0 lead in the sixth inning when Paul Martin singled to bring in Nick Froman, who had singled with two out and stole second.

Starter Sean Finn gave up two hits and struck out seven in six innings. Josh Monroe gave up the tying run in the eighth before Josh Williamson retired the final four batters in a row, two on strikeouts, to get his first victory.

Spokane (19-7) is host to Kelowna (9-17) in the final game of their series at 6:30 tonight.
