Millwood City Council – The new mayor and council member were sworn in. They discussed the lawn enforcement contract with the Sheriff’s Office for 2006, which has a significantly lower rate than the previous contract. Valley Fire – Commissioners elected commission officers for the coming year. They approved a three year contract with Local 876. Some language in the contracts of the chief officers and nonunion employees was changed to reflect the district’s new self-funded insurance. (Source: Commissioner Joe Dawson)
Fairfield City Council – The Department of Health has approved the town’s water tank recoating project. Council members approved a new contract with Fire District 2 and discussed the new law enforcement contract with the Sheriff’s Office. They also agreed to sponsor their annual ski bus to Mount Spokane on Feb. 19. A resident has started a neighborhood watch program. (Source: Town clerk Sue Adams)
