The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley Food Bank is looking for volunteers.

The food bank, located at the community center, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., relies on one paid staff member and an army of volunteers to serve about 800 low-income families and seniors each month.

“When it gets short-handed it takes a toll on us,” said Barbara Bennett, director of the agency.

Spokane Valley Food Bank needs help with the following tasks:

“Computer entry and client interviewing.

“ Daily pickup of food donations from grocery stores and bakeries.

“ Warehouse workers.

“ Setting up, unloading deliveries from Second Harvest Inland Northwest, assisting with distribution days and breaking down and preparing cardboard for pickup.
