Two Men Killed In Seattle Freeway Shooting Three Women Wounded As Attackers Fire At Least 70 Rounds With Assault Rifle
Two men were killed and three women wounded early Tuesday when someone in another car drove by their disabled vehicle twice on the West Seattle Freeway and fired at least 70 rounds from an assault rifle, police said.
The five victims were in a car that had stopped about 2 a.m. on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes to change a flat tire, police spokeswoman Carmen Best said.
A second car coming from the opposite direction drove by and shots were fired at the occupants of the first car, Best said.
“The vehicle then turned around, came back eastbound, firing more shots,” she said. Investigators found at least 70 shell casings on the roadway.
Two young men died at the scene, Best said. The three women were taken to Harborview Medical Center, where a nursing supervisor said they were in satisfactory condition.
Names of the two men were not immediately available.
No motive for the shootings was immediately determined.
