Gu Soccer Player Honored

Gonzaga University forward Jeff McAllister, who had both game-winning goals as the Bulldogs won the Umbro Classic last weekend at San Jose State University, has been named the West Coast Conference men’s soccer Co-Player of the Week.

The junior from Portland shared the award with the University of San Diego’s Leighton O’Brien.

McAllister continued his torrid scoring pace, tallying the first two goals Friday in a 3-0 win over Cal State-Sacramento and getting what proved to be the game-winner Saturday in a 3-1 win over the host Spartans in the title game. He is tied for second in this week’s Far West Regional scoring race with 10 points and is knotted with two others for the goals lead with five.
