Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: My wife and I check on each other while one of us is exercising in a distant room.
To prevent becoming distracted from other projects, we now use an intercom system. The sending unit is put under the exercise machine and the receiver is nearby. We can hear the rhythm of the noise and become alert if there is a change. A baby monitor system will also work. - Gary Simpson, Ashland, Ore.
Dear Heloise: I’m certain to be one of many husbands who has gritted his teeth and strained his eyes untangling his wife’s jewelry chains.
To avoid the frustrations and time spent in untangling small chain necklaces or bracelets, simply thread them through a soda straw, hook the ends and place them in your jewelry box. You can cut the straws to the proper lengths. - Ed Rowlett, Radcliff, Ky.
