Dollar Hits 32-Month High
The dollar hit a 32-month high against the yen and three-month high against the mark Wednesday in a rally fed by forecasts of a stronger U.S. currency by the chairman of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and other influential monetary officials.
Widespread weakness in the mark against other European currencies also contributed to the dollar’s strength, as did rallies in the U.S. stock and bond markets that stimulated demand for dollars.
