The Slice When It Comes To Vacation, July 5 Is Far Better Than A Worm

Speaking of long weekends.

Today might be a good day to submit your request to have Friday, July 5 off.

Loudest kids-calling voice: Judy McGregor was nominated by both her husband and a neighbor. “I think she can be heard for a radius of about three or four miles,” said Ed McGregor.

Cats named by Libby Forsyth and her sisters have included: Matey, Evinrude, Clipper, Schooner, Skiff, Jib, Batten, Mizzen, Halyard, Bosun, Dinghy, Ketch and Dory.

Today’s Inland Northwest nice guy: Bill Grandorff of Grand Coulee. - nominated by Almira’s Pat Rice

Read this this: “Kim Wilson of Deer Park, who grew up on North North Street there, and graduated from college in Walla Walla, will marry Dan Kim in August,” wrote a friend of hers, Stevie Rundell. “She’ll be Kim Kim.”

Lind’s Gloria Sackmann wonders: “Why does (almost) everyone degrade Spokane? Let’s brag it up - there’s a lot of great stuff there!”

Never mind: Laclede’s Maxine Campbell and her husband, Chuck, were living in San Jose years ago when a man called and asked for Chuck. The caller had a couple of tickets for a San Francisco 49ers game that day. Maxine had to report that Chuck had been summoned to work. She knew he would be disappointed to hear about the chance he had missed. Well, that is, until the conversation progressed and Maxine realized that the caller had dialed the wrong Chuck.

Just wondering: How often do people who live on Central in Spokane hear “This street really isn’t all that central, is it?”

How to avoid swimsuit anxiety: Just become a serene, totally confident person who focuses on peace, love and the spiritual nature of being. Hope that helps.

Dive, dive: Hours and hours of submarine movies tonight on TNT.

Warm-up question: Considering the way so many people act - sticking their feet up on the seats, et cetera - why aren’t there more fistfights in movie theaters?

Today’s Slice question: What Inland Northwest dog gets the biggest kick out of riding in the car?
