…And Leave The Advertising To Us

Associated Press

Rolling daily down the back roads of America, Greyhound has encouraged people to ride. Now, the company wants them to read.

The national bus line plans to wrap advertisements on the exterior of its buses for $4,000 per month per bus. Greyhound, which has seen its earnings falter recently, hopes the ad revenue will lift its bottom line.

“We have over 2,000 buses, so this represents a major revenue opportunity for us,” said Stuart Robinson, Greyhound’s vice president of marketing.

The program is expected to be officially announced toward the end of June, but prototype buses were rolled out Thursday at the company’s annual meeting.

The prototypes advertise Greyhound with one bus showing a basket full of greyhound puppies and an offer of half-price fares for children.

The buses are fully wrapped by the advertising, including a one-way film over passengers’ windows.
