Braves’ Onslaught Buries Cubs, 18-1
National League
Chipper Jones and rookie Tyler Houston had five RBIs apiece Monday night as the Atlanta Braves scored their most runs in more than two years and routed the visiting Chicago Cubs 18-1.
Jones went 3 for 5 with a three-run homer.
Houston replaced Fred McGriff in the fifth inning and hit a three-run homer in the sixth, his first major league home run. He added a two-run single in the seventh.
Atlanta, which had 17 hits, has won four straight and 13 of 15. Steve Avery (5-3) allowed five hits and struck out six in six innings.

Los Angeles
Rico Brogna homered and matched his season high with four RBIs as New York beat Los Angeles.
Bobby Jones (4-1) won his fourth straight decision, pitching his first complete game since last Sept. 8 at Montreal. He allowed nine hits, struck out seven and walked one.
Brogna had RBI singles in the first and fifth innings and followed a seventhinning walk to Bernard Gilkey with his sixth homer of the season.
Marlins 5, Reds 3
Cincinnati
Craig Grebeck drove in a pair of runs with a sacrifice fly and a single as Florida won for the 12th time in 14 games.
Pat Rapp (3-4) allowed five hits over 6-2/3 innings while sending the Reds to their sixth straight loss and their 15th in 22 games. At 16-23, the Reds are off to their worst start in 10 years.
Dave Burba (0-5) remained winless in nine starts.
Cardinals 5, Astros 3
Houston
Donovan Osborne scattered eight hits for his first complete game in nearly three years, and Ray Lankford broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single that put St. Louis ahead to stay.
Osborne (3-2) struck out five and walked one in his second complete game, the first since a five-hitter at San Francisco on June 9, 1993. It was only the seventh win in 26 games for the Cardinals.
Rockies 10, Pirates 7
Denver
Eric Young homered and added an RBI single as Colorado stretched its winning streak to a season-high five games with a win over Pittsburgh.
Ellis Burks, Larry Walker and Andres Galarraga also drove in two runs each for the Rockies, who had 14 hits and won their sixth straight home game.
Armando Reynoso (3-3) won for the first time since May 3.
Giants 9, Expos 6
San Francisco
Tom Lampkin walked with the bases loaded, forcing in the go-ahead run as San Francisco rallied with a five-run eighth inning to beat Montreal.
Montreal, which lost starting pitcher Jose Paniagua to a hand injury in the second inning, led 5-0 in the fourth and 6-4 in the eighth.
Burks honored
Colorado outfielder Ellis Burks, who had three homers and eight RBIs, was selected National League player of the week.
