We Will All Pay For Sins Of Republicans, Democrats Letter Of The Week: From Aug. 11

I can’t believe it. I read a Cal Thomas column and I agree with some of it!

This conservative pundit believes that our country is being punished by God for its sinfulness. Thomas never gets around to naming sins, but one only has to read from any of the Old Testament prophets to see what makes God very furious towards nations.

The Prophet Zechariah summarizes: “Do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien or the poor and do not plot evil. But they refused to listen, turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped up their ears. They made their hearts hard. … Therefore a great wrath came from God” (Zec 7:10-12).

It almost sounds like Zechariah was having a vision of today’s Republican Party. Unfortunately, many Democrats are now following the Republicans’ politically popular (politically correct) attack on the aforementioned groups.

If Thomas is right, there will be a huge price to pay when a “Contract with America” supersedes humanity’s contract with God. John Griffith Spokane
