Do You Want A Local Skate Park?

Beth Raddatz Homeschooled

Regular readers of Our Generation know there’s a movement to build a skate park in Spokane. SLI (Student Leadership & Involvement) has put together a group of students that is striving to make that dream a reality.

But there are lots of questions. We decided the best way to answer them is to survey people of Spokane about whether they want a skate park, and what features it should have. The results of this survey will be given to the Recreation Committee of the Spokane Parks Department.

This is your chance to speak out. Take a few minutes and fill out this short survey. Send it before Sept. 2 to SLI, 507 N. Howard, Spokane, WA 99202.

Thanks!

MEMO: This sidebar appeared with the story: Does Spokane need a skate park? Why or why not? Where should it be located? Do you skateboard or rollerblade? How many other people in your family skateboard or rollerblade? Should Spokane’s skate park allow both skateboards and rollerblades? What structures and obstacles would you want in the park? What hours should it be open? What form of transportation would you use to get to the park? If you had to pay a user fee, would you still go? How much should admission be? Should ID be required (in case of injury)? Should lessons be taught at the skate park? What other skate parks have you used? Which one is a good model for the Spokane park? What safety issues should be addressed or enforced (protective gear, etc.)? Would you be willing to help with the skate park (clean up, work with the advisory council, etc.)? Are you 18 or older? Are you a registered voter? Do you live in the city or county? If you would like to be contacted about meetings, please sign your name, address, phone number and age. If you have additional comments or suggestions (including sketches), send them with this survey.
