Amtrak Will Resume Daily Empire Builder
Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., announced Wednesday that Amtrak plans to resume daily passenger train service on the Empire Builder, which currently runs four times a week between Minneapolis and Seattle.
“This is great news for economic growth and job creation in Montana,” Baucus said.
“We took a heavy blow last year when Amtrak announced they were reducing service to four days a week, but we fought hard, and today we won.”
Baucus said Amtrak intends to ask its board to approve the change during an annual meeting in September. If approved, the change would go into effect Nov. 10.
“Amtrak is a vital component in the economic health and well-being of our state,” he said.
