Man Says Fake Cops Threatened Him

From Staff Reports

A Veradale man told police he was stopped by phony cops on Interstate 90 early Tuesday, slammed against his car and threatened with guns.

The victim was driving back to Spokane with his 16-year-old son and noticed a car following them near Ritzville, Spokane police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

Near the base of the Sunset Hill, the occupants of the pursuing car activated a siren and flashing light on their dashboard about 1:15 a.m., Cottam said.

When the victim pulled over, one of the men approached his car. The victim asked him for identification.

Then the victim was ordered out of the car, yelled at and shoved against the side of the vehicle, Cottam said. One assailant flashed a semi-automatic pistol. The other brandished a revolver.

The victim again asked for identification and the two men then drove off.

The victim, who was able to provide the license number of the other car, told police the men were both white men in their 40s, each over 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. , DataTimes
