First Nurses Hall Of Fame Local Inductees Announced

Registered nurses from across the state were recently inducted into the first Hall of Fame of the Washington State Nurses Association and the Washington State Nursing Foundation.

Inland Northwest award winners were Betty Anderson, Colbert; Betty Harrington, Spokane; Jan Holloway, Spokane;, and the late Minerva Blegen Sathe, Spokane.

Among the qualities for selection were demonstrated excellence in patient care, leadership, education and public service.

Inland Northwest students who recently earned bachelor’ degrees from Western Washington University are:

Kevin Michael Bailey, Moses Lake; and Sandra L. Antonucci, Jeff R. Driskell, Sara Geittmann, Matt A. McCarter, Alesa Joanne Parker, Carl Werner Pettit, Lisa Kay Sander, Joseph Patrick Veltkamp, Kristine L. Whipple, Jennafer Lynn Boies and Clay Bradley Ritner, all of Spokane.

Four Pullman residents recently received Women of Distinction Awards from Washington State University:

Patricia Wright, WSU Tri-Cities staff member; Treana Kay Knight-Miles, WSU student; Connie Kravas, WSU alumna; and Dorothy Swanson, community member.

A team of five construction management students from Washington State University took third prize in a recent Associated Schools of Construction Region VI competition.

The team was comprised of WSU architecture and construction management students in Pullman and Spokane. Inland Northwest students were: Dan Kemnitz, Rob Anderson and Gavin Flisakowski.

Washington State 4-H scholarships have been awarded for achievements, leadership and contributions to 4-H and community.

Inland Northwest students, their schools and scholarships are:

Kyle Nelson Cordill, Cheney, the O.M. Plummer Memorial Scholarship; Jamie Rae Meenach, Valleyford, Tim’s Cascade Potato Chip Scholarship; and Summer Michele Beckley, Ritzville, Wash., the J. Orville Young Memorial Scholarship.

Trish Schwartz, Reardan, Wash., was selected as Washington State 4-H Delegate to the 1996 National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C.

Donald Baribault received a bachelor of arts in education degree from Eastern Washington University, graduating magna cum laude. A social science major, Baribault graduated from Northport (Wash.) High School.

Emily Kenney, daughter of Mike and Paige Kenney, Spokane, was recently named a candidate for the 1996 Presidential Scholars Program. Kennedy, a National Merit semifinalist, is a senior at Lewis and Clark High School.
