Rewards Offered For Leads In Beating

From Staff And Wire Reports

Rewards totaling $2,500 are being

offered for information on the beating of a Spokane man in a grocery story parking lot last month.

The 35-year-old victim remains in critical condition after he and his brother were attacked by four men at Tidyman’s on Francis Avenue. The assault occurred just after midnight on Oct. 14.

The attack came after the victim’s car was nearly hit by a pickup, whose driver followed the victim’s car as it drove away. The brothers stopped in the parking lot, and the four men in the pickup jumped out and attacked them.

One of the brothers was knocked to the ground and saw two men beating his brother. Witnesses called police, but the four assailants already fled and detectives have since developed few leads in the case.

The victim suffered severe head injuries and has been in a coma since the attack. He may have been beaten several times in the head with a wooden club.

The pickup was described as a dark blue Toyota King Cab 4x4, possibly a late 1980s or early ‘90s model.

Police have not released the brothers’ names. The victim’s family has raised $2,000 as a reward for information on the beating.

Secret Witness also is offering a “no questions asked” reward of $500 for tips that lead to the solution of the crime. Callers do not have to give their names to be eligible for the cash. Secret Witness has a 24-hour telephone line at 327-5111.
