24 Hours bike race

The 24 Hours Round the Clock, organized by Round and Round Productions of Spokane, debuted in 1999. The race begins annually on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and runs through the night to noon Sunday. A shorter kids event also is held on Sunday to the delight of the many campers and supporters at the site at the Seven Mile airstrip in Riverside State Park. Of the 669 riders in the 2015 event, most shared the work in teams of two to 10, along with 30 solo riders. The top solo male rider was Ryan Gardiner of Jasper, Alberta, averaging 11.1 mph for 270 miles. Top solo female was Chelsea Magness of Bend, Oregon, averaging 10.8 mph for 270 miles. This year’s riders included a few on fat bikes and one solo rider on a single speed. The youngest team rider was 9 years old.
