Luis Humberto del Real, a longtime resident of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2024, after a short battle with ALS. Luis was born on Dec. 2, 1954, in the mountains of Central Mexico. His family later moved to Guadalajara, Mexico. In 1983, Luis, his then wife, and three children (Eric, Justin, and Jason) moved to Spokane. Shortly after, Luis began working for McGlade’s Orchards on Greenbluff, and did so for the next eight years. In 1991, Luis met Karen Haverkamp. They later married and he became a stepfather to Chad and Michelle. Eventually becoming a grandfather to "his girls", Kaitlyn, Kendall, and Peyton, along with Chase, Parker, Dominic, and Aaliyah. In 1992, Luis opened his own landscaping/pruning business "Señor Clean", which he ran for 23 years. Luis was an extraordinary man. He was very kind, funny, loyal, and hard-working. He was a wonderful husband, stepfather, and the most amazing grandfather “Abuelito"! He will be greatly missed by all family and friends. A very special thank you to the following people. The providers that helped care for Luis during his illness, PA Linda Quinlan, Dr. Michaela Cosma/Keith, Dr. Kristina Anderson, and Dr. John Chapin/ALS Clinic, Hospice/Hospice House. Our wonderful children Michelle/ Jason Harris and Chad/Chelsea Haverkamp, our dear friend, Dawn Evans and the Viking Plass, for all of your love and support. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, 2:00pm, at the Holy Cross Mausoleum, 7200 N. Wall Street.
