Where will WSU be next week?

COUGARS

A short post this morning, not because we don't have time, but because there isn't much to link. But we do have a few, including a couple concerning the NIT. Read on.
••••••••••

• If there is one person in the country that doesn't know, or care too much, about Washington State's postseason chances, it's Tony Bennett. The WSU coach was asked twice about it yesterday and answered the same way he has been the past few weeks: Don't ask me, I couldn't tell you. He just figures his team has to play good basketball this week. If that happens and they aren't playing next week, he'll be disappointed. But he doesn't have any control over it. Or any idea what tournament will come a calling. According to NIT preview sites, the Cougars could be anywhere from a six seed – on the Bracket Project – or an eighth seed – on NIT-ology – right now. Both have them on the bubble. Who knows? What do you think? My guess is they will play in the NIT, unless Oregon routs them tomorrow night. Otherwise, it's an NIT bid and a game at either St. Mary's or San Diego State, depending on the NCAA bids. ... OK, on to the other links. Well, there's just my story on the Pac-10 honors. ... And there is this advance in the P-I from freelancer Howie Stalwick. That's about all I can find concerning the Cougars.

• That's it for this morning. I'll have an advance of tomorrow's game with Oregon on the site later this evening. Until then …
