A WSU link hunt for Easter morning

COUGARS

Given the surprising overlap of seasons – the spring football workouts were scheduled long ago; the new coach taking over the basketball offices was not – Holy Week was a lot more complicated this week than we ever could have expected. But it's over now, Easter is upon us – with few little kids on the cul-de-sac, there doesn't seem to be any one out on an egg hunt; pity – and WSU's athletic world should settle down. We do, however, have a few Easter morning nuggets for you. Read on.

• We posted our album version of the Ken Bone story here last night, but here is the feature as it appeared in the S-R this morning. Plus, we can direct you to Steve Kelley's column in the Seattle Times, which offers more insight into the new coach. ... By the way, if you're interested in new Arizona coach Sean Miller, you will learn some here. You have to buy the paper to get the rest. Interesting. UA did win the battle for this big man. ... The Cougars held their first official scrimmage in Martin Stadium on Saturday – if you scrimmage for less than half of practice, it's not one of the three the NCAA allows in the spring – and the running game was highlighted, not only in my story but in the one freelancer Howie Stalwick put together for the Times and News Tribune as well.

• Those were all the Cougar-oriented Easter eggs I could find this morning, though I have to admit I didn't look under every bush or rock this morning. Let's hope we didn't miss one that will be discovered in July, all covered in fungus and smelling like an old basketball shoe. "Didn't we hide a dozen, dear? How come the kids only found 11?" "Don't worry, it'll turn up hon." Famous last words. We'll be back if events warrant. Until then …
