Late goals sink Chiefs in 2-0 loss at Everett

From staff reports

EVERETT – Bryce Kindopp scored two goals in the final five minutes and the Everett Silvertips blanked the Spokane Chiefs 2-0 Sunday in a Western Hockey League game.

Goaltender Bailey Brkin kept the Chiefs (16-11-2-2, 36 points) in the game by stopping 38 of 39 shots, but Spokane could generate little offense, mustering just 21 shots on goal.

Kindopp broke the deadlock for Everett (25-7-1-0, 51) at the 15:34 mark in the third, tipping in Reece Vitelli’s shot from the right point.

Kindopp sealed the game by scoring an empty-netter with 12 seconds remaining.

The loss snapped the Chiefs’ two-game winning streak, and Spokane is now 1-4 this season against Everett, which has won nine in a row since losing to the Chiefs on Nov. 18. The Silvertips lead the Western Conference by seven points.

The two teams will face off again Wednesday night at the Arena, their third matchup in seven days.
