Ferry County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that two suspects wanted in connection with a homicide in Latah County have been apprehended.

The suspects, Keagan C. Tennant, 17, and Matthew J. McKetta, 18, were taken into custody near Kroupa Road in Ferry County around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to a news release from Ferry County Sheriff Raymond Maycumber.

“We are greatly relieved this incident resolved without violence,” Maycumber stated in the release.

A massive manhunt was launched after Sheriff’s Office deputies located a white 2002 Pontiac Grand Am near the Canadian border that had been sought in connection with the homicide.

The suspects are believed to have fled in the vehicle after depositing the body of Tim Reeves, 18, near Troy, Idaho, early this week. Tennant is the adopted son of Pullman police Cmdr. Chris Tennant.

The Ferry County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the vehicle was found near the Curlew-area Job Corps at approximately 11:08 a.m. Keagan Tennant had recently been removed from the Job Corps program after making threats of violence against students, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

The Job Corps center was placed on lockdown and all students and staff were safe Friday afternoon, said Amy Rooker, chief of civil and emergency management at the Sheriff’s Office.

All Ferry County sheriff’s deputies were engaged in a widespread search of the area, she said, with assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Okanogan County sheriff’s deputies and K-9 teams. A helicopter had also been dispatched, she added.

Tennant and McKetta are wanted in connection with the death of Reeves, a recently graduated Pullman High School student whose body was found wrapped in a tarp near Troy, according to Reeves’ family members.

Tennant is wanted on charges of involuntary manslaughter; attempted first-degree murder; principal to failure to notify law enforcement of a death; conspiracy to commit failure to notify law enforcement or the coroner of a death; conspiracy to commit failure to notify authorities of a death; principal to destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence; and conspiracy to compromise evidence. The charges are felonies.

McKetta is charged with failure to notify and evidence corruption charges.

Reeves’ family members said that he was killed accidentally after a gun went off at a camping trip in which both suspects and the victim, as well as others, were present.

They said that the location of the body and details of the homicide had been transmitted to authorities by someone present during the events of Reeves’ death.
