Teens’ opinions matter
Obama’s farewell speech just occurred, and Trump’s inauguration is soon to follow. I am 17 years old, obviously was not old enough to vote. However, I still have an opinion. I did not want Trump to win. While I was not 100 percent in support for Clinton, I favored her by far in this election.
Trump, in my opinion, is not professional and not respectful toward all Americans. Even so, Trump winning was not the most irritating part of the election. The most difficult thing was how much I was told that my opinion does not matter because I am not 18. Several of my friends were told the same. We are all only a few months away from becoming adults, and we are told that our opinions don’t matter.
Well I think our opinions do matter. We will soon be the next generation taking over this country. It shocks me that instead of guiding us and talking with us about politics, the majority of the generation above us tells us to shove our views under the rug. Communication is key to any situation, and I think some change is in need.
