Girls, take the pledge
High school girls can be mean and vicious. However when girls stick together, they can help each other through life’s problems and boost their spirits.
I was first presented with the opportunity to ban together with other teenage girls at Northwood Middle School through a program called I Am That Girl. Middle schools and high schools all over the nation are joining a nonprofit organization inspiring girls to love, express and be who they are. Co-founder and CEO Emily Greener has helped inspire over 250,000 girls everywhere.
The I Am That Girl pledge states, “I have a brilliant heart and a beautiful mind. I am me, a perfectly flawed, beautyFULL work in progress. I promise to lift other girls up, have their backs, and make it safe for them to be exactly who they are. I’m on a mission to raise the standards for how we treat each other, how we treat ourselves, and how we treat the world. Every time I look in the mirror I’ll remind myself that I’m not alone, that I’m beautiful, that my voice matters, and that I am enough.”
I encourage every girl to take this pledge.
