WSU professor killed in Highway 95 crash

A Washington State University professor died in a crash on Highway 95 about four miles south of Cambridge, Idaho, on Wednesday.

Kota Inoue, 51, was driving south on Highway 95 around 3 p.m. Wednesday in his 2005 Toyota Prius when he crossed the center line and sideswiped a northbound Dodge pickup pulling a stock trailer, according to the Idaho State Police.

Inoue, an associate professor of Japanese at WSU, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Meridian, where he died of his injuries. The highway was closed for nearly four hours.

The driver of the pickup, 19-year-old Cole Brown of Council, Idaho, was not injured. The crash is under investigation.
