Senior Volunteer Fitness Leaders – The Panhandle Health District is looking for volunteers to lead Fit and Fall Proof classes. These free classes provide moderate exercise to help strengthen seniors and prevent falls and injuries. The classes are offered at more than 23 locations in Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai and Shoshone counties. Training takes six hours and is offered at the Kootenai County PHD office at 8500 N. Atlas Road. Free Assistance from a Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisor - A representative from Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisor visits a number of Whitman County Library branch locations each month assisting residents with their Medicare and insurance questions. SHIBA volunteers provide information and counseling to individuals about health insurance and health care access, focusing on Medicare issues along with other health insurance related issues.
