Pioneers upset 13th-ranked Whitworth men
PORTLAND – Randall Jackson’s jumper with 32 seconds left in overtime gave Lewis & Clark the lead for good and the Pioneers went on to beat 13th-ranked Whitworth 73-70 in a Northwest Conference men’s basketball game.
The Pirates (20-5, 14-2) trailed by 11 points early in the second half but rallied late to force overtime.
Dustin McConnell and Kenny Love scored 15 points apiece to lead Whitworth. Taylor Farnsworth added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Lewis & Clark’s Bradley Carter had 15 points and 10 boards.
The Pioneers (16-8, 9-6), who ended a 13-game losing streak to Whitworth, can secure the fourth and final spot in the NWC tournament with a win over Whitman tonight. Whitworth had already clinched the regular-season title and the top seed to the NWC tournament.
