Girls roundup: Lewis and Clark stops Snohomish
Riley Lupfer scored a game-high 21 points and handed out seven assists and Michaela Kay hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds as Lewis and Clark edged the Snohomish Panthers 56-54 in a nonleague game Tuesday at University.
The Tigers (5-3) shot 48 percent from the floor and had assists on 18 of their 24 field goals.
Taylor Cunningham added 13 points and Maryssa Stoa dished out five assists for LC.
Central Valley 73, Richland 49: Madison Hovren scored 16 points and became Central Valley’s all-time leading scorer in the Bears (7-1) win over the host Bombers. Hovren has 1,469 points, nine more than Emily Westerberg.
Mt. Spokane 57, Pasco 40: Jaidyn Lyman scored 12 points and Ari Newcomb added eight points, 16 rebounds and eight steals as the Wildcats (5-3) topped the Bulldogs at the Hanford tournament. Mt. Spokane used a 14-4 second-quarter run to erase an early deficit. Pasco’s Sierra Perez led all scorers with 26.
Glacier Peak 64, University 50: The Grizzlies made five 3-pointers during its 21-10 third-quarter run and beat the host Titans (4-4). University’s Emma Kennedy had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Josie Wicklund and Kendall Collins added a combined 24 points.
Rocky Mountain 61, Coeur d’Alene 37: Rachel Fielder scored a game-high 17 points and Allie Clegg added 14 as the Grizzlies routed the Vikings (8-4) at the Coeur d’Alene tournament. Emily Callahan led the Vikings with 14 points.
Okanogan 48, West Valley 47 (OT): The Bulldogs’ Jill Townsend hit a late 3-pointer to force overtime and finished with 22 points and eight rebounds as Okanogan edged the Eagles (2-6) at the West Valley tournament. Karli Gabbert had 11 points and Erin Higbie added eight points and eight rebounds for West Valley.
Mountain View 67, Lake City 43: Destiny Slocum scored 27 points and the Grizzlies – Idaho’s top-ranked team – pulled away late and beat the Timberwolves (10-2) at the Lake City tournament. Lake City’s Whitney Meier scored 12 points and Keara Simpson added nine points and 10 rebounds.
Lakeland 35, Lake Roosevelt 31: Savannah Pruitt had 14 points and eight rebounds – both game highs – and the Hawks (4-8) shook off a slow start and edged the Raiders at the West Valley tournament. Costanza Piermattei added nine points and Dani Linehan pulled down eight rebounds for Lakeland.
Colfax 57, Colville 40: Amara Huber led three players in double figures with 13 points and the Bulldogs (7-3) used a 21-6 second-quarter run to establish control and get past the Indians (3-6) at the West Valley tournament. Elaine Taft scored 15 points for Colville.
Post Falls 66, Sandpoint 40: Sam Runkle scored 13 points and Melody Kempton added 12 as the Trojans (9-1) routed the host Bulldogs (7-6). Sandpoint’s Madi Schoening led all scorers with 18 points.
Northwest Christian 66, St. George’s 42: Courtney Gray scored 19 points and Mackenzie Gray added 13 points and seven rebounds as the Crusaders (10-0) defeated the Dragons (5-5) in the Freeman tournament title game. NWC’s Treasure Farmer, who was named tournament MVP, added 12 points and six assists and Rachel Bozlee chipped in 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. St. George’s Ceci Bergquist and Hailey Higashi had a combined 29 points and 10 assists.
Pullman 65, Freeman 38: Emily Drake scored 10 of her game-high 33 points in the decisive first quarter and the Greyhounds (4-4) eased past the Scotties (0-8) at the Freeman tournament. Maddi Mueller added 15 points for Pullman. Freeman’s Sydney Sather scored 12 points and Cassidy Crosswhite grabbed nine rebounds.
Lakeside (WA) 56, Priest River 29: Joceyln Cook-Cox and Kelsey Jones scored 13 points apiece as the Eagles (8-1) increased their winning streak to seven by defeating the Spartans (8-1) at the West Valley tourney. Jones added five rebounds and four steals.
Cheney 44, Bonners Ferry 41: Kendyl Cone led a balanced attack with 13 points and the Blackhawks (4-4) used an 11-4 fourth-quarter run to come back and beat the Badgers (5-3) at the West Valley tournament. Savannah Woods tallied a game-high 16 points for Bonners Ferry, which struggled to break through Cheney’s full-court pressure in the final quarter.
Riverside 44, Tonasket 20: Hayley Pace had 11 points, eight rebounds and eight steals as the Rams (3-5) routed the Tigers at the West Valley tournament. Tonasket was limited to 6-of-30 shooting and scored three first-half points.
Liberty 69, Odessa-Harrington 53: Christine Denny poured in a career-high 38 points, including 19 in the second quarter, and added 10 rebounds and seven steals to guide the Lancers (5-4) past the visiting Titans (2-6). Madelynne Flaig added 14 points and six rebounds and Abby Karlis grabbed 10 boards for Liberty, which won its fourth straight. Odessa-Harrington’s Lanessa Simon tallied a team-high 17 points.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 33, Wilbur-Creston 30: Katie Emerson made 5 of 7 shots and scored 13 points as the Warriors (7-1) edged the Wildcats (3-6) in Coulee City. Reinee Rockett added six points and eight rebounds for ACH, and Emily Starzman tallied a team-high 10 points for Wilbur-Creston.
