Lilac Parade through the years

Stagecoach dayse were never like this! The old stagecoach was put into service in May 1940 as the vehicle  for Spokane/s Princess Lilac and her court in the downtown parade marking the opening of the city's lilac festival at the chamber of Commerce buildings. Spring flowers were used in profusion in decorating the old coach for the third Lilac Festival Parade.  Princess Lilac (Shannon Mahoney) is on the floral throne at the rear. Her attendants are Maxine Clark, Barbara Atwater, Margaret Monaghan and Dolores Ellison.  (Photo Archive)
