Paul Pelosi’s attacker sentenced to 30 years in prison

David DePape, the man whose embrace of right-wing conspiracy theories led him to break into Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home and bludgeon her 82-year-old husband, was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison. Federal prosecutors had asked for a 40-year term, arguing that the attack constituted an act of terrorism.

NYPD to start using drones as ‘first responders’ on 911 calls

Drones will soon be accompanying cops on 911 calls throughout the city, NYPD officials said. A new Drone as First Responder pilot program will be in effect in coming months, beginning with four NYPD police precincts and the Central Park precinct, NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry announced at a hearing before the House Committee on Homeland Security.

At least four dead as storms batter Houston area

Four people were killed and more than 1 million people were without power as intense thunderstorms swept through Texas on Thursday evening, bringing heavy rain, destructive winds and dangerous flooding to central and southeast portions of the state that had already flooded this month.
