Midstokke: Packing purgatory and household limbo

Now that we’ve built a new house, we’re both too tired to move into it. After so many months of time tables and project plans and coordinating subcontractors and budget calculations and late nights and long weekends, we find ourselves in bed early at our rental and refusing to make eye contact. It just takes too much energy.

Idaho doctor, accomplished outdoorsman, dies in avalanche while skiing Lost River Range

An Idaho emergency physician and adventurous outdoorsman died Friday after being buried in an avalanche while skiing part of the state’s tallest mountain range. There is a mythical land beyond the invisible boundaries of our neighborhood, a place where rules don’t apply and lawlessness is the sweet reward of those who plow their own roads and take their own trash to the dump. It’s a place where red tape is unheard of, Tyvek counts as siding, and nobody is coming to see if your Grassed Infiltration Area meets volume requirements.
